I'm a very seasoned VA, having been doing this full time for over 16 years (showing my age, ahem) I came through the whole "Niche Down" movement, where the general VA wasn't valued as much as the VAs focussing on one, or even a few things.

Which is why I created my 1nSourcing Business Model, to give ALL VAs & Freelancers a solid and much needed place in this online service business industry, because we are ALL very much needed.

If you're a generalist, good on you, don't listen to anyone who calls you a jack of all trades and master of none - you are special, you can handle multiple things very well that very few others can, you might not be the best at everything and that's okay, because there are others out there who are the best at what they do - and you can hire them 😁

One of the amazing things about being a really good generalist VA is that you can pretty much open up any client-base or market to work with - that's powerful, so you get to really pick and choose who your clients will be.

Lucky duck! Another cool thing is you can impress the socks off anyone too, so how do you do that? Well, you have to work your generalist brain muscles.

I'm telling you, that you can be able to look at anyone and just know how what you do, can fit into their lives... This isn't so you can work with anyone and everyone, noooo no no, no matter how awesome you are there will be people (lots of them) that still aren't a good fit for you, or you for them, and it would be ridiculous to wanna take on the whole population, BUT you do this so when you do find the people you want to work with, you'll be so practised in flexing this muscle, that on the spot you can tell them exactly why they need you.

So I encourage you to give yourself a workout with anyone new you come across who has a business, and ask yourself... "How could I slot into your business, what could I do for you?"

(Sometimes you'll think of things, other times not and that's fine) - but the more you do this, the more you'll see incredible possibilities open up and expand before your wonderful, generalist skill set eyes 🤩
