Having worked online now for quite some time, and also just starting to venture into the world of VA training, it never fails to surprise me, how many different “types” of Virtual Assistants there are out there. Just like colours, there are many different shades all of the same colour – take red for example – if I showed you the colours below, and I asked you for each one, “What Colour Is This One,” the likely answer would be Red…. but in actual fact, they are all different shades of colour, but they are all fundamentally red.
I am a strong believer in being “unique” and I don’t support the idea that we can box in the term “Virtual Assistant” anymore – the world just isn’t that way these days. There are many different facets to being a Virtual Assistant, just like there are many different shades to the colour red, and times have moved on, “Virtual Assistant” could mean a number of things, it’s not like a plumber or car mechanic – where the job role is black and white.
If you want to succeed as a VA in terms of expanding your business quickly, and developing a sizeable income, then you need to be of the ‘open’ mindset that you cannot stop progress and change is inevitable. It’s happening all the time, and rolling and adapting with that change is what has got me this far. Embracing it and learning how I can use the changes in the industry to my advantage, I hope, is what is going to get me even further.
To every professional, dedicated and committed virtual assistant out there, no matter what service you provide, where you provide it from, or what you decide to charge for it – we are all important to the progression of the industry, and to the success of the clients we provide our services to.
