Why Not Unwind This Weekend With Practical Multi-Tasking?

Michelle Dale - Friday, August 12, 2011

It’s the weekend! What do we try and do? Well, we try and stop working as virtual assistants for a bit and get in some “R and R” time. Very difficult if you’re an entrepreneur and love working! Being a Taurean, I love being practical, even when I’m enjoying myself, and multi-tasking is great for me because I can get several things done at once, but I also like to find practical ways of relaxing too. As I’m getting used to our new surroundings in Italy, here are my top 3 ‘practical’ multi-tasking ways to unwind.

This is what I will be doing this weekend…

1. Cooking

I never really had time to enjoy ‘proper’ cooking, it was something that used to be a chore, and spending time in the kitchen was simply keeping me away from my business or my desk, but not now! I love being in my kitchen, you’ll see why in the video top right. So I am now starting to do more cooking, which is great, I spend more time in the kitchen, with a spring in my step and a great view, doing something useful :)

2. Walking

I never would have considered exercise as a way of relaxing in the past, it was always a heck of a job getting me to exercise for fun or relaxation, but since I am now in a very picturesque hilltop town in Italy, and it’s much cooler here than Spain, I go out walking in the evenings, because I love the atmosphere around here, it’s a whole new world, lots of things to see, hear (large gatherings of Italian people outside their front doors eating and drinking or live music in the local children’s playground at 10pm) and do, so I am not only getting a great night’s sleep from being knackered after my walks, I’m also getting lots of new impressions, and getting some exercise at the same time!

3. Virtual Extreme Sports!

Last Christmas we bought the kids a Wii, and to be honest I have never been into computer game systems at all, that is my husband’s department, until the other day when I discovered Wii Sports / Resorts, sword play! You can whack the hell out of a little character with your Wii remote, brilliant for getting all your tension out! Warning, it is a little addictive, especially when you venture into the other options, such as hang gliding, water skiing, sky diving, it’s all there… So now I have a jolly old time at the Wii Sports / Resorts with my kids! Its better than normal computer games because you have to stand up and move around, it’s good fun, so I get to play with my kids and burn off energy with them, that’s going to be very handy on rainy days!

Playing with my kids virtually, kind of ironic when you consider what I do for a living.

We also have a massive festival this weekend in our town, it’s the “Festival Of Witches & Elves” – the whole place has been decorated with witches, owls, and bats hanging from the buildings, they have blocked all the roads off and put out tables and bars everywhere, and people gather together, eat and drink! I feel some video footage coming along for this one, should be interesting!
