Virtual assistants at some point in the life of their business may consider supplementing their income from their services with the sale of a product they have created based on the services they provide. Whether it's a course, training programme or ebook, here are some pointers that will ensure your creation is a success.
#1 Labour of Love
It's vital you're passionate about what you do, and yes, there's so much on the Internet these days about pursuing your passion, but the reason it's there is because having and living your passion is such an important part of living a wholesome, well-balanced life. Passionate people who teach do it with positive, infectious energy, which makes learning a pleasure. Plus the positivity will often rub off on the student, which is a bonus!
#2 Significant Experience
Anyone with first-hand personal experience, who has achieved success in their field is always worth listening to. I always had a problem with school, for example when I was 15 in my business studies class, my teacher, teaching me the principles of business, had never actually started, developed or owned their own business... Do you see what's wrong with that picture? Shared personal experience is 100% pure value, which leads me onto my next point.
#3 Adding Value
Anything created wholeheartedly for the intention of bringing value to other people's lives in itself is almost destined to be successful. There are 2 types of passion, the first is passion out of pure love for what it is you're doing, which we talked about earlier - the other is selfish passion that has conditions attached to it. For example, if you create a product that makes 10 sales, a passionate person would be happy they were able to share their knowledge with those 10 people. People who have selfish passion may feel it would have been a waste of their time... Do you see the difference? If it adds value, nothing is wasted.
Keep the faith, be grateful for any and all sales, and in time, with your persistence, they will increase.
#4 Life Circumstances
The way you live your life will come through in your product - take travellers as an example. By no means do you need to be a traveller to launch a successful product or service, there are many people who have wildly successful courses, programmes, products and more who stay in one place, but travellers have a certain quality or characteristic about them that non-travellers simply don't have. This makes for a different kind of style when teaching - it will be noticeably different and in my opinion, everyone should learn something from a traveller, at least once in their lives.
What is unusual or unique about the way you live your life that could carry through in your product creation? Use it to your advantage!
So now that you know what makes a fantastic product or service, you can begin to brainstorm what you think best fits into this criteria. Supplementing your income as an online service provider can be incredibly rewarding for you, but to ensure its success, as a general guideline, the benefit of others should be kept as your absolute top priority.
