The first that I have is that you should get a virtual call-answering service or, at least, a virtual number. So, you need to go to the country in which you’re looking to set yourself up; so, for example, if it’s England or America or anywhere like that, you go and you find a call-answering service that can deal with your calls just by the hour or by the call. So, you only pay for the time that someone is actually dealing with your business. This is the first thing you need to do. If you’re not ready to go into a call-answering service then get a Skype in-number, so basically people can call you in the Skype in-number. You can purchase one for any country. If you’re away or if you’re travelling you can set it to voicemail and you can deal with the voicemails as they come in. So, depending on what you’re willing to do, what you’re prepared to do, you can set up a call-answering service or a phone number in your country so people can actually call that number as if you were in that country.
The second thing that I think is a good idea to do is to buy a PO Box address or some sort of purchased address in your country. People probably won’t send you mail, in all honesty, but if they do and you’re in a business where people do send you mail then it’s good to have a mail service where you get an address like a PO Box address where people can send you mail. You can then have that PO Box diverted to a virtual assistant in that country locally so they’re able to scan the mail in and they’ll send it to you by email no matter where you are in the world.
So, you’ve already got your address and then you’ve got your phone number.
Another thing that I have, which I find really really handy when I’m travelling, because I don’t want to have to keep changing my telephone number, especially for my staff or my clients, so I have a SIM for travel. So, basically this is a SIM card, which I put into my mobile phone. This is a local telephone number to the UK. So, basically clients and staff can call me on a UK telephone number no matter where I am. The really nice thing about this is that it’s completely free for me and it’s a local call for the person in that country. So, it basically allows me to “cloak” myself as if I was in the UK but really I can be anywhere. For example, I am in Spain. I’ve been in Egypt. I’ve been in France. Every time I move, my system, my business, stays static. I have got a UK address, a UK number, a UK SIM card for my mobile phone.
So, all of these things are really pertinent to having a virtual business living anywhere but actually having it as if you’re living in that country. I really hope those were useful tips.
