I wanted to share a short metaphor from a book I'm reading, if you trust me, this can help you right now where you sit, with whatever it is you're struggling with. I have a question for you at the end, that will make all the difference, it's the one I asked myself after reading it...
The book is Creative Visualisation, by Shakti Gawain.
"Let us imagine that life is a river. Most people are clinging to the bank, afraid to let go and risk being carried along by the current of the river. At a certain point, each of us must be willing to simply let go, and trust the river to carry us along safely. At this point, we learn to "go with the flow" - and it feels wonderful.
Once we have become accustomed to being in the flow of the river, we can begin to look ahead and guide our course onward, deciding where the course looks best, steering the way around the boulders and snags, and choosing which of the many channels and branches of the river we prefer to follow, all the while still "going with the flow".
So now I promised you a question, and it's this - Are you clinging to the bank, or flowing and navigating as you go?
I know for a fact - Clinging is stuck, it's negative, it's fear and lack. It's the 'what if' this goes wrong, or 'what if' I can't pay the bills, or 'what if' I don't meet the quota... If you're in 'What If' then you're clinging...
The flow, well it can be a wild ride, but even in the chaos and the uncertainty - it's feeling alive - it's living. Theme parks with those crazy rollercoasters make a fortune from it ;-)
All of your goals and dreams are waiting for you at the end of the river, so what are you hoping for when you're clinging and not even moving towards them in whatever way you can? No matter what happens, success or failure, the true satisfaction, and valuable lessons, always reveal themselves - in the flow.
