First of all, before I go into these business roles, I will tell you a
bit of a story about where I am at in my business now. Marketing my
business services is an essential part of my daily workload. I made a
mistake before of becoming complacent with marketing in favour of other

When a VA starts to become busy, the idea of hiring subcontractors can begin to make a lot of sense, there are many advantages to expanding onto a team such as passive income, ability to offer a wider range of services, more free time for you, and much higher earning potential due to being able to take in a much higher volume of work, and whilst all these things sound great, there is one primary fear that we have when hiring subcontractors, the fear they will let us down, and in turn let our clients down, which could damage our reputation.

If you’re a virtual assistant you may have come across the term “online business manager”
– in a general sense I would consider an online business manager as
someone at the helm of their VA business, but utilising members of their
team (other VA’s) to assist them with providing services to clients.
They manage clients and tasks ensuring the end result is that they have
satisfied clients and team members, and the business remains profitable
and functional. Changing the role of the virtual assistant who owns the
company, or started solo, into more of a manager, online business consultant or project coordinator.
