“Life Appointments” – How To Step Away From Your Business Without The Entrepreneurial Guilt Factor

Friday, June 24, 2011

In 2011 I’ve been considering “work-life balance” a lot more often. I wrote a post earlier this year about how I have more than halved the hours I spend in my virtual assistance business by basically restructuring my team, and since then my hours have continued to reduce. It was the single best decision in my business which I have ever made, that has had the most positive impact on my life. When I was considering how I was doing it, yes I was hiring more people, and shifting roles to help me in my business, but what really made a difference more than anything else was my own self-discipline and actually ‘scheduling in my life’ into my day, with what I call “Life Appointments,” instead of letting my personal life slip by as an afterthought.

How To Find Your First Client Today, Using The Beta Testing Technique – With A Real Life Example

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I always say that the best way to start doing business, is to “start” doing business. Finding your first client is as easy as what I am about to show you below. We all tend to want to focus on what we consider to be our ideal client, and with good reason, by working with the ideal client you will become successful in many ways, but when you don’t have a single client, and you want to start putting everything into practise, sometimes you have to value the experience of “beta testing” over obtaining and dealing with the perfect, most ideal client from the word go — to be honest, if you’ve never had a client before in your virtual assistance business, all you can do is really speculate what’s ideal anyway… How do you know who is ideal in your virtual business? You can base it on your offline experience, but are those offline clients the right ones now, and are they adaptable to your new online business?

Why A Virtual Assistant Is Like An Ice-Cream – Apart From Being Yummy!

Friday, June 17, 2011

This is a fun post for Friday! I know what you’re thinking right, how the hell does an ice-cream have anything to do with virtual assistant services, yeah… I thought that too, and I thought so much about it, that I found a few similarities and thought what the heck, I’ll post em’. Obviously it’s a metaphor/association type thing which we can have some fun with, because if we were serious all the time, life would be a little boring.

The Virtual Assistants Guide On How To Optimally Structure, Delegate and Coordinate Your Multi-VA Company

Monday, June 13, 2011

I was recently asked in an interview how I am able to run a multi-6 figure business, be a mum, and travel too. I find this interesting because I’m sure there are loads of folks out there doing it, but we don’t hear from them too often. The simple answer is, that it wasn’t always like this, and it only changed when I started taking my personal life as seriously as my business. I crafted a new business model from the VA business I had built that would allow me to work as much as I wanted to work, randomly take the day off if I felt like it – knowing it would not effect clients in any way, spend more of my time in my parent role, rather than my CEO/VA role, and give me plenty of time to live my life, travel and pursue the projects I wanted to pursue, not had to pursue… In other words, I started my VA business to earn a living, and now I am earning whilst living at the same time.
