Telecommuting Is Taking The Place Of The Daily Drive To Work

July 31, 2010

Telecommuting or e-commuting is an arrangement where the company grants some latitude on the place where the employee works from. Traditionally this has mostly concerned personnel who Work From Home either full time or part time. In 2008 it was estimated that 50 million US workers may well work from home, nevertheless only 2.7 million employees said this was their place of work. The amount of occasional tele-commuters was around 17.2 million, but a lot of them spent time in cafes or other places where they could obtain access to a wireless link.

The proliferation in laptops and notebooks and UMD’s is making the practice of using a pc in a public place, akin to reading a book or writing a note in a diary. With no wires or power cords required, and only the space needed for a small plate, the social acceptance of these mobile devices is increasing steadily.Large groups of co-workers nicknamed “Jellies” are getting together in cafes or other locations, to talk about work, or just to socialise and to alleviate the loneliness common with personnel who Work From Home.

Most Online Jobs could be accomplished from home or a separate remote location. In spite of this the take up is somewhat slow. By 2011 the US Government envisages a growth of 65% in remote workers. Private industry envisages that their remote personnel associated with Internet Business will grow by 35%. The Federal Government is vigorously pushing for more tele-commuting. This is not an selfless action by them as the amount of financial savings is quite staggering. By permitting employees to Work From Home they envisage that a whopping $13.9 Billion USD could saved yearly on commuting costs. Tied to that same saving would be a year on year decrease in pollutants by 21.5 Billion lbs.

Social networking technology is also filling the gap that office socialising once filled. One of the benefits of Online Jobs is that employees can switch from a work related article to a social network site and back again at the drop of a hat. As more employers shove Internet Business out of the office and into the home and other remote locations, they will start to understand the requirement for connectivity between remote workers. Hopefully they will grant the indulgence of workers to intermittently view sites like Facebook or Twitter. Managers have to realise that isolated workers are in all probability more productive at home. Time frittered away in the office due to late starts, coffee breaks, gossiping before and after meetings etc will be substituted for some personal time used up on web browsing and domestic tasks. However overall productivity should be better as there will be less distractions and workers can opt to answer a call or e-mail immediately, or leave it till later.

UMD’s such as mini notebooks and mobile devices similar to smart phones etc are the latest group of gadgets that will transform Internet Business, and really permit remote workers to operate anywhere they want. Some devices will have partial functionality and will be modified for specific business requirements. This should lower their cost of ownership. As request for these UMD devices grows, the expansion of free wireless connectivity will also grow. Remote Online Jobs are not only the domain of the home and trendy coffee shops. Free wireless connectivity must be available in public places like malls, sports centres, parks and airports. It needs to be virtually anywhere you could potentially put in an hour of two of work and benefit from the presence of people around you. Only then will we realise true telecommuting.

The Pluses And Minuses Of Opting To Buy Into An Evolving Company

February 7, 2010

We often hear of individuals who make their living by investing in newly emerging businesses, seeing just the right opportunities to get involved with and consider whether we could possibly do the same. We see lots of Internet Business enterprises at the moment and wonder whether we should invest. Their guideline is most likely not to invest more than they are willing to lose in any given project, but in the early days not many of us have funds to lose, so how do we make judgements?

We realize that we have to speculate to accumulate, but how can we ensure we are speculating in the right way? How can we ensure we are going for the best Online Jobs? What are the pros for us of each potential investment? I shall detail below some of the up sides and down sides as I see them of making early investment into a growing Internet Business.

If we invest early in a company, we have a chance to have an effect on the way it evolves. We can grow with the company and probably our investment will be less than those who follow on behind, once it is over the initial hurdles. This would mean that our initial outlay may increase considerably, two or threefold perhaps in the first 12 months for anyone wanting to invest a year down the line.

In this way, we could say that we cannot fail. If after a year we wished to remove ourselves from the company, we could sell our interest and make a good profit. Then again, maybe we could see long-term good in remaining an investor in the company and have a say long-term in its running. Many Online Jobs give the option to Work From Home and this might also be seen as a good reason for investment.

Of course, there is a downside to investing too soon, and that is that if the individuals who had the original concept are not business savvy, then the whole venture could fold, losing both their money and ours. Perhaps the company takes off much more slowly than we had originally anticipated and therefore we see no return on our investment for quite some time. Do we stick with it, or pull out?

Perhaps we have been duped and there is no real money to be had, the venture was just a front to get us to part with funds and once enough folk have bought into their scam, they close the doors and take our funds with them. This could be a real issue if we are investing in a Work From Home Internet Business as there may be no official registered offices, so it is difficult to keep tracks on the managers. We have to trust them implicitly and over time build that trust between us.

I think that we could all spot these ventures if we are careful where we select our investments. Be sure we check up on any possible investment thoroughly. We should check and double check everything we are shown – if the company is genuine they will be glad we are taking them so seriously, they have to trust us too. If everything makes sense, then there is less risk involved and hopefully we have found a good occasion to become the new entrepreneurs.

Having A Web Based Company Does Away With The Commute

December 14, 2009

Many of us can identify with the misery of a dark, cold, icy winter morning. Remember the melancholy feeling on having to scrape ice from the van windscreens prior to being able to drive to work, due to having not parked it in the garage the evening before.

Once the van is clean and fit to drive, it is on to the icy roads and being held up in traffic, getting ever more frustrated at the time it takes to arrive at the office.

At moments like this, it enters our mind, how wonderful it would be to have the chance to Work From Home, not having to leave the comfort of our home or be involved in office politics. However, how many of us actually consider further than this, maybe search for Online Jobs, taking our thoughts that one step further?

In fact, with the expansion of Internet Business, many more people are choosing to Work From Home and in reply to this there are more Online Jobs available to choose from. Some Internet Business sites actually have a link to career opportunities with them.

If you are currently linking to these web sites then when you apply for a career with that particular Internet Business, you will be in a strong position to give reasons why you would be an asset to the company. You already know a significant amount about their business and can prepare well for interview, after making sure your CV is completely in tune with the job for which you are applying. It would also indicate that you have an interest in the company so would be an asset to them.

It could be that you would prefer, if you are going to Work From Home, to open your own Internet Business. This could well involve thinking about the type of Online Jobs which would appeal to you. The areas which are right now lacking information but which you consider you could add benefit.

What are your pastimes? What are others often encouraging you for being really good at? Is there a market for setting up an Internet Business and selling your ability? When you are tediously commuting to work, do you wonder whether there is a better way of life out there? Spend a little time considering how you could Work From Home and save yourself maybe two hours or more of daily commute. Think of how you could spend this extra free time.

Indeed to begin an Internet Business it would be very time heavy in the early days. Research, building up your web site, checking you have registered your company and opened a business bank account. It could well seem that the commute was okay after all, but once the business is in place, people are arriving at your site and taking pleasure from the service or product you offer, you will realize that the option to Work From Home was a brilliant one. You are your own boss. You set your own hours. It could be the business expands in order for you to give others the chance to work for you from their own home. Fewer cars on the roads would also benefit the environment, so we could be working with a happier workforce, working in a more environmentally friendly company.

New Business Planning Has To Be Based On Internet Business

December 13, 2009

Market forces have always made sure that the performance and nature of the work place balances. If you accept that the principles of supply and demand will ensure that the correct, or required, products and services are provided by successful businesses, then the impact of the Internet Business explosion may well alter the accepted economic paradigm.

Traditional business models are based on a division of function which for arguments sake resulted from the mechanisation of industry during the Industrial Revolution. In order to develop efficiency the work place “scientists “ such as FW Taylor argued that separation of roles would improve production rates. Subsequently the specialisation of function (innovation, design, production and sales) would be designed to ensure that the greatest opportunity for suppliers and retailers was achieved by encouraging rivalry at both ends of the chain (in suppliers and retailers).

This model composed around silo’s is now in danger from the worldwide web, the very nature of the capacity to share knowledge instantly has had the effect of bringing together those customary silo’s. It is now perfectly possible that a faction of designers can get together, design a product or service online, in real time. If the yield is a product then via 3D printing technology that product can be produced and advertised via a website. An entire supply chain can in fact Work From Home producing goods and services via Online Jobs.

This mode of activity will affect the world of work as we see it today, Online Jobs will be the standard as opposed to the exception as design, manufacturing and fabrication, sales and marketing and distribution are all possible through a broadband connection. Old fashioned barriers to entry in markets, such as accessibility, market knowledge and skill sets will become less of a difficulty as a start up Internet Business can, without any problem source correct skills online and have no need to co-locate a team who can all in actual fact Work From Home. Any market is easily reached when sales pitches and client contact is made through effective use of today’s communication technology. Business forums and blog sites can also offer useful local and regional business intelligence through discussion with businesses already working in that market – obviously there is an issue around sharing information that could be useful to your competition.

There is no doubt that the mechanics of production as we understand them today will still be needed for some elements of manufacturing and production, it would be almost impossible for a local supplier to produce a car and for an internet business sales team who work from home to sell it. It would also be folly to suggest that some of the more technologically advanced goods we use on a regular basis could be designed over the internet by a team who had never met. However there are millions of items which are simple in design construction and production which could be produced in this way. Who knows, some of them may even benefit from design improvement as hundreds of much smaller teams take a look at those designs and insert their own individual ideas to them.

Market forces have always made sure that the performance and nature of the work place balances. If you accept that the principles of supply and demand will ensure that the correct, or required, products and services are provided by successful businesses, then the impact of the Internet Business explosion may well alter the accepted [...]
