Quite often I get asked, “Why should I hire you over another Virtual Assistant Company?”… Well, there are many reasons, but one in particular springs to mind, which comes up for me almost on a weekly basis from some people who have been told that outsourcing is cheap, quick and easy… Well, yes it can be… but what are you getting for it?

Get comfortable, I am going to attempt to tell a story….

There once was a speedy Virtual Assistant Company who bragged about how fast they could work and how cheap they could work for. Tired of hearing them boast, Virtual Miss Friday challenged them to a race. All the clients on the Internet gathered to watch.

The Virtual Assistant Company started rushing quickly through the tasks. The Virtual Assistant Company looked back at Virtual Miss Friday and cried out, “How do you expect to get lots of clients when you’re not turning work around as quickly as we do?” But then, some problems started to occur… the tasks started to come back in because they were not done correctly, they were not checked and the quality of the work was not to an acceptable standard… emails were getting lost due to not having the proper systems in place to handle the volume of work coming in, and the more tasks that came back, the more requests for refunds they got, and the more behind they became….

The Virtual Assistant Company spent their time taking in more clients, and tasks — (instead of doing quality control, checking the work, and ensuring it was to a high standard so it went back right first time.)

Virtual Miss Friday continued to work at a realistic pace, ensuring that all of the tasks were to an exceptional standard, and to an achievable deadline. Virtual Miss Friday was only employing experienced and professional members of the team, who had the skills, and the knowledge to complete the tasks to a very high standard. Nothing came back, and the clients that Virtual Miss Friday was working with were able to progress in their own businesses, thus requiring more tasks to be done, as they themselves had very satisfied clients!

The other clients who were outsourcing the work to the Virtual Assistant Company were so impressed by Virtual Miss Friday, that they decided to move over from the Virtual Assistant Company, who had just wasted there time and money…

Virtual Miss Friday continued for many years serving satisfied clients from across the globe, offering quality services, while the Virtual Assistant Company quickly went out of business.

After that, The Virtual Assistant Company always remembered that, “If you are going to do a job, do it properly.”

Personally I would aim for less clients and quality work, I may end up being more expensive but at least I can provide a better service and provide additional services to existing clients which is much easier to do than trying to go and find new clients.

I would imagine the only reason why one would need to take on lots and lots of clients is so that you can make ends meet because you are too busy being cheap. (referring to the other virtual company you are writing about)

With the kind of work we do we need to understand our clients, their products and a whole lot of other dynamics in order to deliver the results they want. If you have too many clients it must be very hard to be able to focus on all their different needs and then to meet their deadlines. No wonder there are issues.
