How To Select And Implement KEYWORDs In Your Website Development

January 21, 2010

I am sure you have heard of search engine optimisation services, also known as seo services. It’s the process of using keywords to draw targeted traffic to your online business. But what about keyword phrases? They can bring in even more lucrative traffic.

You will find keywords used in your headlines, content and elsewhere, designed to appeal to search engine robots. The engines employ robots to visit your website development once it is registered and to check on what you have within. If you select very specific words that your customers will likely specify when they look for your site, then your content will probably appear within the all-important primary page of results. This means that you will be the first link anyone sees for those words.

Website content is not just something for visitors to read. It is also a way to attract the “right” visitors in the first place. It is very important that you use the right keywords across your site, so that you gain the acceptance of the search engines and become visible.

Doing your Homework.

You thought that homework stopped when you graduated from school. In the world of business, you never stop learning if you want to go as far as the road will take you. Here, your home work will involve preparing your content with keyword research.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a research expert to be successful at this task. Correct keyword research will reveal the words that you need to rank your website ahead of everyone else. Do you think you are ready? Let’s begin.

Conducting Keyword Research.

Here is what you can do to start out:

1. Create a list of words. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. What words would you input to find you? Write as many of these down as possible. Better yet, record them in an electronic spreadsheet for easier editing later. Pick single words and phrases with multiple words.

2. Talk to your customers. You have existing customers. Use surveys to determine how they found you. See which words they used if they found you through an Internet search engine. Many business owners will look past this solution as it seems too easy, or they don’t ask the correct questions.

3. Keyword software tools are excellent. They are especially helpful if you have determined your keyword list already. By entering the keywords, the software will tell you if they are likely to be good enough to reach your prospects.

4. Analyse the data. Take your list and condense it, so that you are left with just the keywords most likely to succeed. Now rank these keywords, first to last.

5. Try them out. Don’t use all of them at one time, but keep track of which ones you use and for how long. Using website management tools you can find out how much traffic and conversion (how many people used your keyword content as a means to do something – click, sign up, or buy) rates changed.

So, are you ready? You obviously already use content, but maybe it isn’t working well enough. There are always ways to make it better and keywords are one of those ways.
